Leveraging DueGooder's Recommended Start Date Feature for Assignment Success

A guide to using DueGooder's Recommended Start Date feature to plan and start assignments effectively.

Leveraging DueGooder's Recommended Start Date Feature for Assignment Success

NOTE: The Recommended Start Date feature is available exclusively to Pro members. If you’re ready to enhance your planning and assignment prep, consider upgrading to unlock this tool.

With DueGooder’s Recommended Start Date feature, Pro members can simplify assignment planning by having start dates automatically calculated and added to each task based on its type. Instead of estimating when to begin working on assignments, let DueGooder’s advanced tools do the planning, so you stay on track without the guesswork.

To make the most of this feature, you’ll first need to activate it during setup:

  1. Start the Syncing Wizard: As a Pro member, begin by syncing your account in DueGooder. This wizard will guide you through several steps, and when you reach the “Extract” stage, keep an eye out for the option to enable Recommended Start Dates.

  2. Enable the Feature: Click “Enable Recommended Start Dates” in the Extract step. Once activated, DueGooder will assess each of your assignments and suggest an ideal start date based on its type and length, factoring in the amount of preparation required.

This automated setup makes it easy to approach each assignment proactively, with no need for manual planning.

DueGooder’s algorithm considers various aspects of each assignment—like complexity and urgency—to determine when you should start. This allows for targeted recommendations:

  • Major Assignments and Exams: Typically, these tasks are assigned start dates further out to allow more preparation time. DueGooder may suggest beginning work a week or two in advance to ensure ample time for studying or working on projects.
  • Regular Homework: For standard homework assignments, DueGooder will likely suggest a shorter lead time, perhaps three to five days in advance, allowing for structured yet manageable preparation.
  • Quick Tasks: For shorter assignments or easy-to-complete tasks, DueGooder might suggest a one- or two-day head start, giving you just enough time to prepare without crowding your calendar.

Once you’ve enabled the Recommended Start Date feature, use it strategically to stay on track:

  • Weekly Check-Ins: At the start of each week, glance over your Recommended Start Dates. This practice lets you anticipate what’s coming up and adjust your schedule as needed for busy periods or unexpected changes.
  • Stick to Suggested Start Dates: DueGooder’s start dates are calculated to prevent last-minute stress, so aim to begin each task by its recommended date. This will keep you on pace and ensure you have adequate time for both big projects and smaller assignments.
  • Adjust as Needed: If certain tasks feel more or less time-consuming than estimated, feel free to make adjustments. Recommended Start Dates are designed to guide you, but customizing to your workflow is encouraged if it better suits your routine.

Maximizing Consistency with Your Calendar

Once your start dates are in place, syncing DueGooder with Google Calendar lets you manage all assignments seamlessly in one place. Here’s how to incorporate these dates into your routine:

  1. Set Weekly Reminders: Add reminders to review DueGooder-synced assignments on Google Calendar, ensuring you’re aware of each start date. Syncing this way keeps your calendar accurate and visually organized.

  2. Enable Notifications: In Google Calendar, configure notifications for both start and due dates. This added reminder reinforces DueGooder’s scheduling suggestions, reducing the likelihood of falling behind on any task.

With DueGooder’s Recommended Start Date feature, Pro members have a powerful tool for proactive planning and stress-free scheduling. By following start-date suggestions and sticking to a consistent review habit, you’ll find it easier to manage assignments and maintain a balanced academic life.
